Following up on last week’s QuickTip about tagging others in social media to drive engagement, what do you do when others tag you in their social media posts? Well, you’ll want to engage on their post of course.
Like it, favorite it, +1 it for sure. Even better, comment on it! If you have something to add to their post mentioning you, a comment is a perfect place to help others get the conversation going on their social sites. Are you socially connected already with whoever mentioned you? If not, is it a business or individual that makes sense for your company to connect with? If so, then it’s the perfect time to reach out and connect. This could be a simple as just adding them to a Google Plus circle, following/favoriting or liking their brand pages, or individually connecting with their brand on LinkedIn. Don’t stop at just the one platform someone mentioned you on. Search out their other social sites and connect with them there as well. Want to take it a step further? Send a personal message via the site platform or email to connect with them on a deeper level and start building an in-depth social relationship.
Your level of engagement should be individualized based on the company or person tagging you, but don’t let a mention of you sit there unrecognized. Even just posting a quick “thanks for re-sharing” comment goes a long way towards establishing your brand – or you, the brand owner – as an engaged and caring company.
