Groundhog Day Resolutions
Do you make the same New Year’s resolutions year after year, only to give up or forget about them a few months later?
Every year starts off with the best intentions. Then sometime around February (or maybe April or even June if you have more staying power than most) your resolve starts to wane. It becomes a never-ending cycle, like a scene from the movie Groundhog Day…
You’re not alone.
But this isn’t one of those “how to stay on track” or “making resolutions stick” articles.
This is a reminder that, at any point — any month, any day, any hour — you can refocus and recommit to whatever resolution(s) you have for the year.
For all you entrepreneurs and small business owners, hopefully at least one of your resolutions involves growing your business.
If not, now is the perfect month/day/hour for resolving to give your business a little boost this year.
Groundhog Day is also a good time for checking in on your New Year’s resolutions. Why? Because it’s an easy date to remember. Just like Punxsutawney Phil, it’s time to emerge from your burrow of day-to-day work, and look around for any shadows. At just over a month since setting resolutions for the new year, you’re likely either solidly embracing your goals, or your resolve has started to wane and is barely hanging on . . . like a drooping shadow behind you.
Whatever your business goals are this year, check in on them regularly throughout the year. Starting today – Groundhog Day! If you find your resolve towards any of your goals slipping, it’s time to re-commit to that goal, re-focus and restructure the goal, or let it go entirely.
Happy Groundhog Day, and cheers to your success!
